Make Money With AdaptiveBlue SmartLink Feeds

money093.jpg One of the great things about the new AdaptiveBlue SmartLink Feeds are that we do all the publishing and you can sit back and make money (via the Amazon Affiliate Program) by simply placing the feed on your blog. Every week we update and republish a set of SmartLink Feeds ranging from New York Times Best Selling Books, Netflix Top Rentals, iTunes Top Albums and Amazon Hot Gadgets. If you have a blog related to any of these topics, you can grab the feed, customize it, insert your affiliate id and then add the feed to your blog.

Before going over the steps, let’s take a look at how SmartLink Feeds compare with other advertising options like Google ads or Amazon Omakase links.

First of all, they are not mutually exclusive: you can (and should) use a combination of advertising on your blog. But if you are serious about monetizing your blog, then try different systems and then compare and decide what works best for you. There is no one size fits all.

While the answer really depends on the content of your blog and the makeup of your audience, SmartLink Feeds are likely to perform well for you. Here is why:

  • Google ads are good in general for related information but not exciting enough for things like books and gadgets.
  • General contextual targeting works well, but depends on your blog content. Analyzing your blog each time may slow down your site, may not be consistent between loads, and most importantly, it is not specific to the person who is looking at the content.
  • Omakase links, while tuned to an individual, are pretty annoying. If I just looked at that book on Amazon and left, why would I want to come back to it from your blog?
  • General behavioral targeting works well only if you are part of a big ad network, which you probably aren’t.

Because of these factors, it is likely that your best bet is to simply display something that is popular.

This is exactly what SmartLink Feeds focus on - popular content from top services. If your audience is like most online users then chances are this top-rated content will appeal to them.

In addition, SmartLinks are not really ads, they show content and add big value - connecting readers to contextually relevant destinations (Note that when a user clicks on a SmartLink she does not leave your blog, so there is no traffic loss). So SmartLink Feeds are useful and fun. And since you are providing readers with an enriched experience and utility, they are likely to come back to your blog more.

Sounds good? Want to give it a try? Just follow these easy steps:

1. Click the Grab me button on the bottom of the feed that you like

2. Customize the feed to match your style and taste

3. Fill in your Amazon Affiliate Id

4. Use 1-click install for TypePad and Blogger or copy the code to add it to your blog

That’s it! It’s that simple. Note that the content in these feeds will continuously update as new books, movies, albums and gadgets make it to the top and you will be able to make money whenever your readers buy through this SmartLink Feed.
