Updates to GetGlue.com: Improved Commenting and Navigation

by Fraser on December 8, 2009 · Comments

Today we’re excited to release an update to GetGlue.com. There are a number of improvements included in this update, some of which we’ll review in this blog post.

commentstream_1208 Comment and Reply from the Stream

As of this release you can comment and reply directly within the various streams of activity.

Clicking thumbs-up or thumbs-down will cause a comment box to appear. Clicking into the comment box allows you to share why you like (or dislike) the item.

Selecting ‘reply’ after mousing over another individual’s entry in the stream will cause the same text box to appear.

cgl_1208 New Navigation Options

This release includes refinements to navigation options and filters across the site.

Comments. An often requested feature, the ‘Comments’ toggle filters the view to display only the items with a comment. This toggle is available on the Public and Personal streams as well as profile pages.

List and Grid. The List and Grid options toggle between two different layouts on profile pages. The classic Grid layout enables quick discovery and liking. The List option provides an easy way to comment or reply directly from the profile page.

Homepage navigation has been refactored into 5 tabs in this update.

categorys_1208 Category Selector

The category selector that exists on the Suggestions, Leaderboard, and Popular tabs of the homepage has been updated.

The dropdown menu has been replaced by a set of intelligent toggles that are personalized for each individual. A subset of categories, determined by a threshold of activity, are displayed at the top-level. Other less-active categories are accessible via the ‘More’ option.

Thanks to everyone who provided the feedback and user insight that helped shape this release. Once again you’ve helped us take a step forward. Enjoy the release and, as always, let us know what you think!
