As you enjoy Glue, we’re working hard to make it even better. Don’t get jealous, but we’re already testing the new version! I thought I would share a sneak peak at the new bar!

The bar is much smaller (60% of the previous size). There is my new favorite feature - the big thumbs down. The Yellow and Blue outlines are gone, and have been replaced with clear thumbs-up and comment icons. It’s now easy to see how many people and friends like the item - this was an often requested feature.
On the right-hand side of the new Glue bar (not visible in the image) are items that are similar to what you’re looking at and an easy way to see suggestions. This is still a work in progress and our designer Jason has already changed a few details.

The tooltips currently live on GetGlue will be included in the new Glue bar. How cool is that? The tooltips automatically bring relevant info to you. If you’re on Netflix or Wikipedia you’ll able to see the movie’s trailer. You can also read reviews, buy it, see images, and so on.
Update: Here’s a screenshot that shows the new search functionality. Enter the name of an item and easily access the object’s page on Glue - showing you friend reviews, links to the best on the web, and similar items for the object.
We are hoping to release the new Glue very soon, but if you can’t wait, and are interested in beta testing, just leave your Glue username below!
A few lucky Glue-rs will be able to see it first.

I am a huge fan of SeamlessWeb and am so excited that it is now Glue-d!
For those of you who don’t know what Seamlessweb is, it is a simple way to order food online. Seamless takes away all the worry of ordering food over the phone. Loud restaurants, not having cash, and so on, they aren’t issues.
Now, my experience on Seamless has gotten even better with the addition of Glue! You don’t often talk to friends about where to order lunch, but now that Glue is on SeamlessWeb I can see my friends opinions on these types of places.
To celebrate this integration we ordered lunch today on Seamless from Noodle Bar!

I’m sure most of you have seen our awesome Glue shirts and stickers. We’ve been sending them out to passionate Glue-rs, and also sending them around the country (and Canada) to different tech events.
If you haven’t seen the swag, check out our Flickr Group, I <3 Glue, where Glue-rs are posting pictures of themselves sporting their Glue gear.
I’ve picked some favorite pictures to highlight:
 |
Dan (JengaJumanji) for incorporating a Gorilla wearing a suit. |
 |
Matthew (matthewclower) for including his adorable nephew |
 |
Stephen (nemoid) for putting a Glue Shirt on his puppy Harry |
 |
Jeff (jpbrunelle) for being awesome |
 |
and Eggo, for carrying around her shirt around the mall |
If you have a Glue shirt or sticker but haven’t added a picture…do it! :) Take a look at all the pictures, and share your favorites! (and if you don’t have some swag, head over and spread some Glue)

When Glue was first launched there was a vision for a positive system to share the things you loved.
However, there has always been users - like Bill, Callum, and James - who have been itching to give some objects a big Thumbs Down.
We’ve also observed that a growing number of people use the comment feature to share that they didn’t like a book or movie.
With the launch of Glue Suggestions we’ve realized that we need to introduce a new rating option. To provide better suggestions people need to be able to say that they don’t like an item or that a suggestion isn’t for them.
As well as providing better suggestions, the thumbs-down will allow people to express their pessimistic side. I’m excited about this because I love giving things I hate a big Thumbs Down.
Here is a sneak peak of what the new Thumb-up / Thumb-down button will look like.
What do you think? Are you excited to start giving a big Thumbs Down to certain things?

Never did we imagine that when we reached out the book blogger community a number of months ago that we’d create so many great relationships with book bloggers!
Not only are book bloggers heavy Glue users, but they’re important members of Glue’s community - helping to directly shape the future of the service. When we are brainstorming new ideas, bloggers such as Ruth, Kathy, and Deborah will often jump on Skype and share feedback. We value these relationships more than you can imagine; they are priceless!
In light of Book Blogger Appreciation Week we want to make sure they know we appreciate them! BBAW was started by Amy last fall, to recognize all the hard work that Book Bloggers put forth all year round. There are awards given and a bunch of giveaways. AdaptiveBlue contributed a prize.
To enter, blogger’s have to finish this sentence: Book Bloggers love Glue because…. Here are some of the entries:
- http://getglue.com/skrishna (blog) … because it helps readers connect with our reviews by showing books we have in common!
- http://getglue.com/beatccr (blog) YAY!!!!!!!! Glue is SO awesome, I love how it connects users and it’s so easy to use and you’re able to navigate easily across the web (b/c everything is sticking together). Also the new tool tips on the profile page is awesome!
- http://getglue.com/mbookworm (blog) … because it’s another way to connect with other readers and see what people think without leaving the page!
- http://getglue.com/cherryblossommj (blog) … because Glue connects book bloggers and other internet persons in general as no social network or connection widget ever has before. Plus the people behind it are just amazingly fun!
- http://getglue.com/bookingmama (blog) … because it lets me see what my blogging friends like!
In closing I want to finish this sentence: AdaptiveBlue Loves Book Bloggers because….
1. …they are always willing to share feedback
2. …they make Glue rich with comments
3. …they are Glue Genie’s biggest fans
4. ..they are the most supportive group of people out there!

I want to share with you my favorite thing about the new Profile Pages on Glue. It’s the new feature, Things In Common! I find it so interesting seeing the number of things I have in common with other Glue users.

Things in Common is visible on any GetGlue profile (so long as it’s not your own). At the left is a screenshot of what the feature looks like when I visit Fraser’s profile. This info is personalized based on your tastes, so each user will see different information.
Things in Common shows you how many items you have in common with the user. It breaks down the shared interests into categories and shows you a sample of items that you both like.
I like checking out friend’s profiles to see what we have in common. People like skrishna, BookishRuth, and others.
I find myself occasionally going to a friend’s page and being disappointed by the low number of things in common. This quickly changes as I go through their Favorites and notice tons of things I hadn’t Liked yet on Glue. There are a few nice things about this. First off, now we have more things in common. Also, now that I liked these things, Glue can give me even better Suggestions.
Sometimes the truth hurts, which is exactly how Fraser felt after he looked at Dan’s page. Now, Dan has seen every movie worth seeing. I quickly pointed out to Fraser that him and I have 59 things in common! This is definitely a blow to his Taste Ego considering I love Chick Lit, movies that make me cry for days, and shows like Gossip Girl and 90210.
So check out my profile and check out your friends’ profiles, it really is a lot of fun. Who knows, maybe you can start using Glue as a “date checker” - before you accept a night out, check if you have enough in common! Enjoy, and happy surfing :)

Glue is great for connecting around everyday things and it has been fun to see Glue become popular among people who love books.
Before Glue, people interested in books would have to work hard to connect with their friends. When you visited a book on Amazon it was nearly impossible for you to easily see what your friends thought of the book. If your friend was on Shelfari and you used another popular book social network, there was no way for the two of you to connect.
With Glue, book readers can connect with their friends automatically as they visit any popular book site. Glue shows if your friends liked the book you’re looking at and what they thought - even if they visited the book on different sites.

The new connected conversations feature allows readers to discuss books with their friends across the web. It does not matter which sites everyone visits.
Deborah, a friend of AdaptiveBlue’s and an avid reader, wrote a post about why she loves Glue. Here is one (of many) reasons why:
“I can upload a link to a review of a book on my blog. Someone can see my link and go to my blog and then can comment on what they thought about the book itself. It’s a great way to connect with people. And I think it’s totally awesome that someone far away can be looking on a website about a book, see my review, and get access to my blog.”

Here at AdaptiveBlue, the frequent flier miles have been racking up! We’ve been all over the country at conferences and events in Boston, Miami, San Francisco, and Austin. Everyone is home for now, but not for long, since some of our crew is heading out to SF for Web 2.0.
Here’s some highlights from our trips :)
SXSW
Fraser and I traveled to Austin, Texas last week for SXSW. We enjoyed the warm weather, the great food, fun parties, but the highlight was definitely the awesome people we met.

Most of our days were spent in the TechSet Blogger’s Lounge where we demoed Glue, and handed out a lot of Glue Shirts (everyone was jealous of our awesome wardrobe).
Some Highlights of our trip:
We had a great talk with Rex about Glue and the evolution of communities on the web. Rex was also was lucky enough to got a sneak peak of the new Glue!
While sitting in the blogger’s lounge we had the pleasure of meeting a lot of great people. Tim Walker, an Austin native, brought us to a great Cuban Restaurant (probably one of my favorite meals in Austin).
We enjoyed seeing Nichelle at her Cupcake Social, which had a great turnout, and some of the best cupcakes we ever had.
We also headed over to Austin’s Semantic Web Meetup, organized by Juan, where we presented Glue.
ETech:
Karen had a great time in her home state of California. She enjoyed the content of the conference and met some quality people, including Robert Berger, who is a big fan of Glue.
BarCampMiami:
Fraser was excited to have the opportunity (thanks Rey!) to talk about Glue and building on the Mozilla platform at BarCampMiami. He was also excited to work on his tan, but didn’t find the time! He did meet some great people like Wayne Sutton and Mike McDerment.
Boston
In Boston Fraser was able to meet up with active Glue-rs Andrew, Aaron, and Chad. Fraser also presented Glue at Democamp Boston and was received positively.
It’s been a busy month for us at AdaptiveBlue but big things are coming and it’s only going to get busier. If we met you at one of the events drop us a note hello or follow us on Twitter!
